Bold City EM Ultrasound — UF College of Medicine Jacksonville

UF–Jacksonville EM Clerkship

Medical Students

Welcome to the EM Ultrasound Scan Session! We want you to leave this rotation comfortable putting a probe on a patient — here's everything you need before, during, and after our hands-on session.

It's as easy as 1-2-3

Prepare

Complete the pre-course survey and watch the short videos below before our session.

Scan with us

Attend the hands-on session in the Simulation Center: E-FAST plus an introduction to ultrasound-guided nerve blocks and needling skills.

Scan in the ED

Put it to work on shift. Log your scans using your student number from your UF badge as your identifier (student 1 = MS01). Ask us for a list of your scans at the end of the rotation.

Before our session

Step 1: Take the pre-course survey

It tells us a little about you and lets us track the scans you perform or take part in during your clerkship. Be sure to include the student number from your UF badge.

Open the pre-course survey

Step 3: Get set up in Q-Path

Q-Path is our ultrasound image storage and quality system — it's where you can view and track the scans you perform during your shifts. Your account is activated after the hands-on session.

Your scan session

We hold a hands-on ultrasound scan session during each clerkship block — your session date and time come by email at the start of your rotation.

Where to meet: the EM offices 15 minutes before the session — we'll walk over to the Simulation Center together (it's easy to get lost!).

What we'll cover: hands-on E-FAST, plus an introduction to ultrasound-guided nerve blocks and needling skills.

Questions during your rotation?

Grab any of our ultrasound faculty or fellows in the department — we're always happy to scan with you.
